Our Intent

Our aim at Meysey Hampton is that our children will deepen their understanding of the world and begin to express their ideas and thoughts in other languages. Our MFL curriculum explores two main themes: language and culture. Through exploring other cultures, we enable ourselves to gain a more profound understanding of our own, which goes hand in hand with our British value of tolerance. Language is at the heart of a culture and at Meysey, children are exposed to other languages and reap the benefits of experimenting with those languages as a natural part of their learning journey. We believe that language-learning should be fun, dynamic and engaging because encouraging in children a love of language at an early age prepares them brilliantly for their next steps both in school and in later life.

KS2 French Activities 'Can you do?'

At Meysey Hampton, children study French as their primary Modern Foreign Language from Reception to Year 6. They are taught by specialist language teachers on a weekly basis, and lessons consist of speaking and listening, reading and writing. This includes songs, games and role-play activities.  In addition to French, children in Upper Key Stage Two are fortunate enough to learn Spanish to link with their South America topic.
