Our Intent

Science at Meysey Hampton -

is ambitious for all pupils
is coherently planned and sequenced
is successfully adapted, designed and developed for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities
is broad and balanced for all pupils

We aim to provide science experiences that stimulate and excite pupils’ curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them whilst satisfying their curiosity with knowledge. Through our science teaching we will reinforce our school values; having respect for the world around us, working as a team to plan and carry out practical work or taking part in scientific discussions whilst also showing aspects of perseverance and determination in taking risks and tackling scientific challenges.

At Meysey Hampton C of E School we provide opportunities for our pupils to become confident, independent and enthusiastic scientists. Our science teaching will enable all pupils (working at their own level) to observe, explore and ask questions whilst also developing their ability to use scientific vocab to evaluate, compare, communicate and make links.

Primary Science Quality Mark

We are thrilled to announce that Meysey Hampton School has been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark. Primary Science Quality Marks are awarded to infant, junior, primary, middle and special schools to celebrate their commitment to excellence in science teaching and learning. The Primary School Quality Mark programme ensures effective leadership of science, enables schools to work together to share good practice and is supported by professional development led by local experts. It encourages teacher autonomy and innovation while at the same time offering a clear framework for development in science subject leadership, teaching and learning. Schools that achieve PSQM demonstrate commitment and expertise in science leadership, teaching and learning.
