Our Intent
Our RE curriculum is ambitious and creative; it fulfils the requirements of the Gloucestershire Agreed RE syllabus and includes The Understanding Christianity resource. Religious Education has a significant role in enriching our pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. It encourages our pupils to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others, and promotes respect and open-mindedness that is underpinned by our commitment to follow Jesus’ command to “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34-35). RE at Meysey Hampton provides a safe space for pupils to discuss and gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to respond to the questions raised by religion and belief. As a church school we model the impact that the Christian faith has on informing all aspects of our life together and we enable our children to explore and celebrate a range of religions. It is our aim that our pupils grow to be respecting and welcoming of all faiths and those who have none. Our curriculum encourages pupils to be curious, to wonder at life in all its fullness and to appreciate and experience the expression of beliefs, cultural practices and influence of principle religions in the local, national and wider global community. We follow the Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus 2017. Full details can be found here. |
